Our community service volunteer work with the Temecula Eq-Wine Riders supports the preservation of multi-use trails, as well as all aspects of the Equestrian Industry in Temecula and Southern CA. We've been accepted to the Tournament of Roses Parade both times our parade entry has applied in 2020 and 2022. Requirements to Join Temecula Cowgirls
We practice Sunday afternoons Fall thru Spring 3:30-5PM, in the Summer we switch to 5:30-7PM to avoid the heat. Team tryouts are held as needed, after a rider attends three practices a decision will be made to offer a position or not. Drill routines are performed at a lope, parades at a walk. Skilled riders can attend one practice as our guest, consecutive practice invitations will be at the captain/coach’s discretion.
Temecula Cowgirls possess strong moral character, athletic ability, advanced level horsemanship skills, and own sound, tolerant horses with acceptable social skills. Team members must have reliable transportation and commit to joining our scheduled practices, parades and events.
We will consider parade team only riders on a case by case basis. Junior riders, under 18 years old,are considered on a case by case basis, a parent must remain present at all practices and events. Helmets are required for riders under 16yrs, unless a parent approves use of a cowboy hat with written permission.
All team members MUST join Temecula Eq-Wine Riders, our sponsor, annual dues of $100 team membership are collected when a new rider is accepted to the team. This fee will help to cover event insurance fees, entry fees, incidentals, equipment, etc. The mission of the club is to preserve SAFE riding trails and promote the Equestrian Industry in Southern California.
Basic personal attire items such as cowboy hats, jeans, team shirts, appropriate size black splint boots, etc. will need to be purchased. We do have some loaner items to share while supplies last. We provide matching team-owned tack, saddle blankets, beautiful custom-made RODEO chaps, practice tee shirts and specs for making your own practice flag, for a seasonal lease to drill team riders. We are proud to say our team is one of the most affordable to join in SoCal. Our hard work fundraising for many years has enabled us to acquire the valuable investment of team-owned items.

About Our Team
The Temecula Cowgirls Parade Team was formed in 2013, after winning First Place Equestrian Division in Old Town Temecula's Independence Day Parade. In recent years, our team has transitioned in to a Drill Team. In 2014 we were awarded the honor of being the FIRST non-profit, community color guard group to be gifted a personal City of Temecula Flag. Our flag was presented formally at City Hall Chambers by Mayor Maryann Edwards.
Over the years we have acquired many First Place parade awards in Temecula, Murrieta, San Juan Capistrano's PRESTIGIOUS Swallows Day Parade, Cherry Valley Festival Parade, and more. These parades are professionally judged by the California State Horsemen's Association based on criteria of horsemanship, attire, tack, Color Guard presentation, ease of parade ride, execution of maneuvers and teamwork.
Our community service projects and fundraisers support trails preservation, therapeutic horseback riding and mini-horse therapy programs, preservation of Temecula's Rural Lifestyles and support of Southern California's Equestrian Industry. Watch for us performing at community events, parades, horse shows, Grand Openings, Western Days, Civic events, etc. We can offer a Grand Entry, Drill Routine and Formal Color Guard, depending on the venue.
On New Year's Day 2020 and 2022 we rode in the "Granddaddy of all Parades"...Pasadena's Tournament of Roses Parade, as well as performed at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center's EQUESTFEST Horse Show. Together, with the Horsewomen of Temecula and the Temecula Valley Horsemen's Association, we accomplished a dream come true for our Cowgirls and the City of Temecula. TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAMWORK!
During the Summer we practice on Sunday afternoon in the saddle 5:30-7PM (to avoid the heat), otherwise 3:30-5PMFall thru early Spring. Practices are held in Murrieta, as well as at the California Ranch Company in Temecula. We have practice flags to loan.
